Summer 2008...
The Summer 2008 season started on Saturday 26 April 2008 and will continues until the last Sunday in September, after which winter sessions begin again on the hard courts. Details of summer court times and tournament dates are all included below.
For the 2008/9-season membership fees are £55.00 per Adult, £25.00 per Junior or £120.00 for a Family Membership. Family membership covers two adults living at the same address plus children living with them. The children must be, on 01.05.2008, under 17 or under 19 if in full time education. Children older than that count as Adults
Attached is an Application Form, which can be used to renew existing membership or to apply for new memberships. There is request on the Application Form for dates of birth for under 19’s. Please complete this, as it will help us in organising junior sessions and teams, and also helps us with the LTA annual return.
- Playing times this summer are substantially changed. We are aiming to provide much more freedom to play when you wish.
- For Summer 2008 the primary CLUB SESSIONS are:
- WEDNESDAY EVENING 6pm May June & July & 5pm August & September. A committee member will be present each week to organise the session, and welcome new members.
- SATURDAY AFTERNOON Not an organised session. The ‘turn up & play’ time is 2.00. If this is followed members should find others there to play.
- JUNIORS EVENING - Thursday 4pm all season.
- The tournaments are friendly sessions and all senior Members will be very welcome – don’t be concerned by the word tournament – come along and enjoy whatever your standard. All you need to do is turn up by 2.00 at the latest on the day.
- We have arranged Junior & Senior Coaching sessions, which will normally be held on the hard courts. Details are enclosed. Further copies can be obtained from Sheila Strachan (C574047) or Jane Rush (C232959). Numbers are strictly limited so get in quickly.
- The annual Wine & Cheese Party will be held in the Community Room on Wednesday 4 June starting at around 8.00 (after the Club Session). We will go ahead regardless of the weather so please do support the organisers. There is no charge – surely too good an opportunity to miss!
- Our main event of the year is the Dilley Cup on Sunday 13 JULY. Highlights include a Handicap Tournament, the chance to choose your own partner, and a social get together with food & drinks. Be prepared for a late finish!
- Details of our League Matches can be found on the Notice Boards in the Clubroom. Match Captains will keep results up to date for your interest. If you are interested in playing in matches do contact any of the Captains or me. Teams are selected solely by the Captains, but they are always keen to hear from new talent!!
- As usual there will be an opportunity for all Senior members to win the chance to buy pairs of Wimbledon tickets. You’ll need to get your name on the list quickly as the draw will be made on WEDNESDAY 21 MAY, so if you want to get your name on the list – you need to be quick!
- This year it is very important to wear your shoe tag. Those not able to prove membership may find they are asked to pay the public court hire fee.
